Will you be a buddy?

Kelly Hall sat with a small boy asking will you be a buddy?
I am on the lookout for some great buddies! No, I haven’t sacked off all my friends….I am looking for Fundraisers who want to connect with each other, build their support networks and discuss the topics and issues that matter to them in a safe space. During my career I have mainly worked for small- and medium-sized charities, usually being a sole fundraiser or working as part of a very small fundraising team. Often with very few, if any, colleagues to bounce ideas off, I have really appreciated a few peers I have been able to call on from other charities. These have been people I have served on committees with, friends who are Fundraisers and people I have met at conferences and events. Often not speaking to them for months on end, it has been wonderful to know that they are at the end of the phone or email when needed and we can easily arrange a coffee and an opportunity to explore some topics I need to discuss. Recognising that not everyone has those wonderful contacts in their lives already, I decided in late 2020 to launch Fundraising Buddies – a free opportunity for Fundraisers to connect with each other and grow their professional support networks. I had to take a small break over the winter of 21/22 due to ill-health, but I am pleased to let you know that Fundraising Buddies is back, and the format has evolved, thanks to some wonderful feedback from the original cohort. It remains free (something I am passionate about) but instead of me working to match buddies based on very limited information, I have created a community where Fundraisers can meet each other and connect on their own terms. Simply put a shout out when you are in need of a buddy and someone who is interested in that theme will respond. This is being hosted within a secure and closed Facebook group to provide a safe environment for everyone. If you would like to grow your professional support network, click here to register for our wonderful little community. P.S. The little buddy in the picture is “helping” me work this week whilst his childminder is on holiday!
